Would it be smart for me to plead guilty after getting caught and charged for retail theft in Kansas? The items I stole amounted to $290. If I do just pay the fine for being guilty would that be better?

I cannot give you legal advice about entering a plea to this case without first reviewing all the evidence and reports documenting the specifics of the case. There may be challenges that are apparent from the reports which you would not be able to use if you gave up your rights to first see the evidence and case against you. You should consult an attorney before waiving any rights to make sure you are fully informed.
