What legal steps can I take to stop someone blackmailing and threatening me? 1 Answers as of February 03, 2012

A man in my neighborhood has posted a picture of my house with the words "Meth House" imposed across the pic on a social network site. He has also given directions to my house naming the intersecting streets and the locality. He told all the neighbors that I am a "meth dealer". I am not a "meth dealer", nor is my house a "meth house". I caught this man peeking in my windows and threatened to expose him if he didn't get some help and stop invading my privacy. His response was to spread bold faced lies to my neighbors and post these lies. Is there anything I can do legally to stop him from doing this?

You can file for a restraining order to block him from coming onto your property or harassing you. This could be in the form of a protective order or civil suit. Contact a civil lawyer to discuss this. If he has defamed you personally by either slander or libel, you may be in a position to file a defamation lawsuit and recover damages. Also discuss this with a civil attorney.
