Will shoplifting be on my record or have anything to do with a background check? 1 Answers as of December 05, 2016

At 15, I was caught shoplifting around $10 of food. Cops were involved but I was not given a court date or had any follow up with the government. I paid a $200 restitution fee to the store and that was the end of it.

Since there were no charges, it should not show up in a background check. You can check this by performing your own background check. By chance it is there, you can easily expunge your record.
