Will shoplifting affect my application to schools and jobs? 1 Answers as of August 08, 2011

I was at a marshalls and my friend gave me a 10$ wallet and told me to put in my pocket. I did and the guard caught me. I am 17. but to avoid calling my parents the man said I was 18 to be nice. I gave them info and I was put into something called choice point. I am really worried. I am applying for college in 3 months and I am so scared I won't be accepted to schools I should be and won't be able to get financial aid. it was a stupid mistake and I've never felt worse in my life. I just need to know will it affect jobs in future and college? I live in NJ. No cops were involved. I am so scared

If you were not arrested and not charged with shoplifting, there is not record to worry about.
