Will my misdemeanor remain on my permanent record? 1 Answers as of July 21, 2011

This happened in 2007 and the court charged me with disturbing the peace by fighting. I paid the fine. Then at the end of the year the girl went back and asked the court to make me pay her hosptial bill and I was put on probation until I did. I finished paying it. Will it remain on my record forever or do I have to expunge it to take it off? It wasnt a felony, it was a misdemeanor.
