Will my last name affect the immigration process? 2 Answers as of April 28, 2011

I got married to my husband about 4 years ago and due to business purposes I have not change my last name to my married name, but now my husband is fixing his statues legally here to become a permanent resident. Would that effect his process, is it necessary to change my last name to my married name.

It will have no effect on his immigration process at all so, it is not necessary for you to change it. Good luck!

I have a lot of clients who retain maiden names or other names. That is fairly common practice. Just be able to show that you are really a couple- there are many ways to prove this without changing your name.
