We used to live in Steamboat Springs, Colorado since December of 2009 until now. We have a one year old baby, but my husband is right now on worker compensation and the hospital in Denver, CO said we have to continue the treatment in Bakersfield, CA so I don't know if when we arrive to Bakersfield I can lose my rights as a common law marriage?Free Case Evaluation by a Local Lawyer!

Although a common law marriage cannot originate in Ca, Ca does recognize other states where common law marriage is recognized.

California does not recognize common law marriage at all. If you are temporarily in California you may be able to remain in the common law marriage once you go back to Colorado.
