Will I face repercussions if I am an illegal immigrant who was called to jury duty? 5 Answers as of December 14, 2011

I'm being summoned for juty duty but I'm not a citizen. I answered the questionaire that was send to me. I indicated that I'm not a citizen. I didn't put my alien registration since I don't have one. Is there any problem with this?

No just call the Jury Commissioner and advise you are not eligible to perform jury duty.

Not really. You did the right thing by returning the summons and telling them that you did not qualify to be on the jury. As to repercussions, I don't think anything will be coming your way. I may be wrong but I doubt it. Good luck!

I doubt if there will be a repercussion, however, it is a possibility that the case will be referred to US ICE (United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement).

Absolutely there is a problem. You should respond to the court that you are not a US citizen and, as such, cannot serve on a jury.

Each jurisdiction has its own rules. Just follow all the instructions on the form and state the reason why you cannot serve. You may also want to call the court to verify that you don't need to do anything else.
