Will I be able to own a firearm after completing probation for marijuana posession? 2 Answers as of April 21, 2011

In the late 90s I got 10 years probation for possessing over 5 pounds of marijuana. After completion I received a letter from the court restoring all my civil rights. I have never sought legal advise concerning this.

If you pled and accepted a deferred adjudication and there is not final conviction, then you should be able to possess a firearm. However, you should contact an attorney to review your criminal history before purchasing or carrying a firearm.
