Will adding a dash to my name bring immigration problems for my husband? 2 Answers as of March 17, 2011

I’m Jamaican and married to a US citizen. I recently changed my passport but I did not leave out my maiden name. I just put a dash and added my husband’s last name. Will immigration question this and does it appear pretentious? We have not started the filing yet.

If your husband is a U.S. citizen, the way your surname is identified in your passport could in no way "bring immigration problems" for him since he's already a citizen. As to whether this hyphenated surname might appear pretentious to others, I haven't the slightest idea.
