Where do I go to patent a script idea? 4 Answers as of May 16, 2011
I need to patent a script idea. Where can I go to do that? How much will it cost? My teacher said it would only be $20 at most.

Not sure what you mean by script idea, however, in general an idea is not patentable. What is patentable is an invention which is generally the manifestation of the idea, but not an idea.

A "script" idea cannot be patented. You can try copyrighting it. Your teacher is misinformed. You should go talk to an IP attorney.

Your teacher is wrong. You cant patent the script. You have to copyright the script. It cost about $40. Go to the US Copyright Office website and follow the directions.

You probably mean copyright registration. You can register a copyright at the U.S. Copyright Office, www.copyright.gov.
