When asked if I had been drinking by an officer, how should I answer him? Posted on July 14, 2011

I was pulled over and charged with a DUI last week after I told the officer I had been drinking. I have seen in movies that police say Miranda rights and something about the right to not tell the officer incriminating evidence. Was it legal for the officer ask me this and use it against me? What should I have said?
