What is the time limit on a Foia? 1 Answers as of July 06, 2011

Hello, about two months ago my husband and I requested a foia for him. Our lawyer said it could take up to one year to receive the information, others say it could take up to four months, is there an actual time limit or is everyone different? Is there any website where you can track down your foia?

These times range all over the place. It is supposed to take 30 days but in the past has taken more than one year. Newer applications are actually taking less time for some reason so it will also depend when you filed it!
