What should I do if accused of selling a stolen car? Posted on March 14, 2011

I traded my car for a Pontiac Trans am a couple of months ago. When purchasing the vehicle I ran a Carfax on the VIN plate on the dash and made sure the VIN matched that of the car's title and it did. The guy told me it was a 1997 body that had a engine and transmission swap and the title and Carfax both verified it was a 1997 firebird based on the VIN's. The car also had a LA inspection sticker which proved to me the car had been titled and inspected. I got the car registered in TN and then sold it to get a truck for work and know the buyer said he looked under the back seat and the vin was for another car and that it was stolen. He already has the car titled in his name and wants his money back now and I dont have it to give to him. What should I do?
