My daughter was arrested in February for petty theft, and possession of marijuana. She only had a small amount on her. What will happen in court? She is 17.

There is a slight chance her case will be handled in juvenile court with the help of an attorney. Normally, when a juvenile is caught with possession of marijuana at age 17, the charges will be held and filed in adult court sometime after the juvenile's birthday. On occasion the prosecutor's office will consent to filing the case in juvenile court thereby allowing the person to be saved from an adult record.
