What can I do if my husband died before my name was added to a home loan? Posted on March 16, 2011

My husband passed away recently, and just before he passed away he wrote a letter to the bank stating that my name should be added to the loan on the home as a joint account with him. We also made a photocopy of that letter for our records. Now that he has passed I went to the bank to make sure that everything is okay and they said that my name was not added to the loan. Who has to take responsibility for paying back the loan? Can I file a suit against the bank proving that I am not responsible?
