It depends on the nature of the charge. If it's murder, there is no statute of limitations. As a general rule, felonies have to be filed within six years and misdemeanors, other than minor misdemeanors, within two years. There are some other limited exceptions, such as certain offenses against children, that are listed in Section 2901.13 of the Ohio Revised Code.
