Should I sell my boat myself? 2 Answers as of November 04, 2010

I am going to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and I was wondering if it would be easier for me to sell my assets (such as boat and car) personally instead of involving them in the bankruptcy process and liquidating them. Will I get more money if I do it myself or should I leave it up to my attorney to figure it out?

What difference does it make who sells it? Either way, you do not get to keep the money unless you want to sell it and then use the money to pay ongoing expenses, such as food, rent/mortgage, etc. until the amount remaining is below your allowed exemptions, and then file your bankruptcy case.
