Must an annulment be served in person? Posted on February 25, 2011

My spouse lives in California. We just seperated and I moved back to N.Y. She is requesting an address where I am living to serve me Annulment papers in person. She claims I have to be served in person but I don't want to her to know where I live since I believe she is unstable and am concerned for my safety. Is she correct that a processor has to serve me in person?
