It should not be available to the public so someone can access your social security number. However, be very careful because you can always voluntarily place your social security number on things that will or may become public documents. It is almost always wise to avoid placing your social security number on anything unless absolutely necessary or unless it is on a document that you are sure will remain private and confidential.
