Is taking possessions from my ex boyfriends house considered a criminal or civil case? 1 Answers as of August 08, 2011

I got mad at my ex-boyfriend and moved of his house while he was away and took everything. My things, his things and our daughter's things. His house was fully furnished when I moved in but he has absolutely nothing, now. Well, I did leave one of the older tvs because it was too heavy and not worth anything. I just got a letter for a magistrate hearing for felony theft but I was told this is a civil case. Is this criminal or civil? We weren't married but do have a daughter and lived together for a few years.

If you took his things, it could very well be considered theft.
