Is someone deportable after an assault? 1 Answers as of April 08, 2011

My wife pled guilty to family assault (of her 16 year old step daughter), a class A misdemeanor in Texas. Is she deportable? If she leaves the country can she get back in? How can we see if she is in trouble. Can I report the conviction to anyone to get her on deportation list cause I want her gone?

No, such a misdemeanor is not considered what immigration authorities term a crime of moral turpitude and hence not a deportable offense.
