Is our lease void and do we still have to pay rent? 3 Answers as of September 16, 2014

We signed a 1 yr lease in Nov 2013 with realty place who informed us that foreclosure screening was clear. The home was sold back to bank September 2014' due to foreclosure. Owner son or cousin was aware years prior we come to find out and also collected reverse mortgage. We will be accepting cash for keys if we cant buy home from bank and will be out in October. Do we still pay rent to this scam?

If you have proof of foreclosure then your landlord is not now the owner and he/she is not entitled to collect any rent. All dealings should be with the new owner - the bank until further notice.

A landlord has right to rent a home in foreclosure. The reverse mortgage lender may have a claim against the landlord, but you don't, so long as you are allowed to stay on the property through the end of the one year lease.
