Is it possible to get a green card if you were deported out of the country for 10 years? 5 Answers as of October 07, 2011
My boyfriend was deported 10 years ago. We lived in Guadalajara together those 10 years and I recently had to come back to the states. We want to get married in Mexico and get him papers so that we can be a family again. We have 1 child together. He went into the U.S. when he was 12 years old and his mother filed for papers but they were denied because of dates that did not coincide. He only had a work permit. He was arrested for possession of drugs for sale and he did his time. Then he was kicked out of the U.S. for a period of 10 years. Those years have passed and we want to know if he will need to get a pardon and if the back child support that he owes will be an issue for him being able to marry me and get his papers?Free Case Evaluation by a Local Lawyer!

We would need to know more about his drug conviction to give you a proper opinion. The United States immigration law treats drug offenses very strictly, but there are some exceptions.

Too many issues to answer on a list serve. You need a consultation on the specific facts of your husband's case along with copy of the deportation order and the drug conviction and other criminal records.

Yes he can and he will need a good waiver (pardon) in order to get an immigrant visa. Don't do it yourself. Lawyer-up for this.
