Is it possible to challenge my debt in court? Posted on July 18, 2011

I am going to be served here in the next few days with a summons for a debt owed to a credit card company for just under $1000 dollars (the initial debt was about 550 but I couldn't make payments so the other 400 dollars is overlimit fees and charges made from the company who provides identity protection which came with the card when I started it). Is there anything I can do when I go to court so that they don't take my property or can I challenge the debt?
