Is it legally allowed to sign a legal contract while I am not in the presence of the person the contract is with and they are not the ones signing? 3 Answers as of April 24, 2014

My lease states it is between myself and the husband of the lady I met when signing my lease. He was not present and she signed for him. Her name is nowhere on the lease.

Yes - The landlord's wife was merely the messenger. It is the same as if the lease was mailed to you with the request that you sign and return it.
