Is it legal to terminate me from my job for neglect to report a work comp claim? 2 Answers as of July 22, 2011

I was recently terminated from my job for not telling my employer of a work comp. claim from 2002. Is there any law against this company asking questions like this pre-hire?

It depends on why you did not report the workers' comp claim. You may have a case for wrongful termination.

CA is an at-will employment state. This means they can fire you for any reason or no reason, just not an illegal discriminatory reason. Did they fire you for what seems like a trivial reason? Probably. Unfortunately, you have no recourse except to file for unemployment and look for a new job. They are allowed to ask about previous workers comp complaints.
