Usually the salon I work for is a commission based one where we get to set our own days and hours. (We have NO BENEFITS what so ever. NO sick time, maternity, paid vacation, retirement, insurance, nothing).. Now my boss wants to try to make up our hours for us. Is it legal for the salon I work in (in IL) to expect me to work certain hours but not pay me if I don't have any clients for the day? Also we have "mandatory" monthly meetings and classes on our days off that last for several hours, and we don't get compensated for those either. Is that ok?
