Is it a good idea to sign a release for the insurance company to have access to medical records in Colorado? Our claim with our neighbors homeowners insurance is ongoing. Our daughter was hurt on their property.

If you are making a claim for injuries the insurance company is entitled to get the medical records of the injured party, so they can get a release in order to get those records.

I never allow my clients to do so since their authorizations are unlimited and you do not see what they obtain. I obtain the records myself and look at them before I send them to the carrier so I do not put my foot in my mouth about prior injuries or current ones.
