Is grounds for slander or blackmail? 1 Answers as of February 21, 2012

I have an ex-girlfriend who happens to also be the mother of my two year old. For two years she has stalked me 24 hours a day. At one point I was receiving over 7500 texts and the same amount of calls a month. Now she is texting saying she is going to say I beat her and hit her car and kidnapped my son if I don’t come back to her. Is this grounds for slander and or blackmail?

Technically there cannot be a claim for slander unless the false and offensive statement was communicated, or "published," to third parties. The blackmail issue, however, is serious. Take all reasonable measures to preserve the evidence that she is threatening to make false statements to authorities, including the texts she sent you to that effect. Consult an experienced trial attorney immediately.
