Is expungement possible for a petty theft charge in Wichita, and is it likely be successful if it was my first time? 1 Answers as of April 22, 2011

I was caught and charged with petty theft back in 2008. I called a lawyer and he told me that I have to wait until 2012 so that I'll be qualified to ask for an expungement. However, I am just wondering, is a petty theft expungement possible and is it likely to be removed from my record since it was my 1st time? Please let me know because this affect a lot on my mind, my life and I have a hard time to apply for a job. Thank you!

Kansas law allows for the expungement of a petit theft conviction only after three years has elapsed from the date the case was closed. Your petition for expungement is very likely to be successful.
