In Georgia, you have two (2) years from the date of the accident. In some instances, the statute does not begin to run until the disposition of the traffic ticket (i.e. voluntary payment of fine/plea in traffic court). However, if you do plan to sue, you are better off giving yourself plenty of time to draft, file & serve the lawsuit. There are some technical things that must be done when filing the lawsuit that are better left to an attorney. Good luck!
