I was wrongfully accused of shoplifting, can I sue? Posted on June 19, 2011

I went to Sears with a friend and my friend bought a pair of socks. When we walked out of the store a loss prevention agent asked us to go back to the store and I asked what the reason was. He told me to shut up and just go, so we went to the store and they actually pressed charges for shoplifting. I had to hire an attorney because i didn't qualify for a free attorney. Finally the day of court came and my charges were dismissed because Sears couldn't prove I stole anything and now I had to pay my attorney 500 dollars. Can I sue Sears for the attorney fees I had to pay after being wrongfully accused?
