How should I approach a disorderly conduct citation? Posted on May 28, 2011

I got lost heading home from a new area. I was pulled over because, after aimlessly trying to find my way, a cop thought I was up to no good. I explained I was lost and asked for help. The officer said that there has been trouble in the area and basically he didn't believe me. He asked to search my car and I stupidly said yes. He found a small amount of marijuana (no paraphernalia) in the car. He did not arrest me and mailed me a citation for disorderly conduct. The officer told me this will not show up on any records. Is that true? Should I plead guilty and pay the fine, or is there any reason I should plead not guilty?
