How much should we settle for after a spilled coffee incident in California? 2 Answers as of January 05, 2011My wife and son were buying a food in McDonalds. While waiting for the order, a big cup of hot coffee spilled in my son's chest. We brought the kid to the doctor and it is good that he was wearing a jacket and vest. We complained to the manager and the insurance called us to negotiate an offer of $500.00. Should we accept this? I need help. Thanks!

In a negligence case you need to prove McDonald's was negligent, and that your child was injured as a result of that negligence. From the facts you stated, it is unclear if either element has been satisfied. If you have any further information to provide, please let me know.
