How much jail time will a robbery/rape suspect serve? 6 Answers as of July 25, 2013

A few months ago my girlfriend was attacked and raped by 3 men. The man that hit her over the head and held her down was caught after robbing a liquor store at gun point. His DNA was on my girlfriend's head because of the way he gauged her. How much time will he serve for both crimes if convicted?

This depends on the State where this happened, the person's prior record, and all the circumstances of the matter. In Michigan this could result in up to Life in prison.

Many factors determine sentencing for crimes such as sexual battery or robbery. The rapists will face a guideline score range based on their prior record, the severity of the current crimes and factors such as whether they used firearms. Typically if they're convicted of both robbery and sexual battery you could easily expect they'd be sentenced to at least ten years terms and probably much more.

Sentencing is up to the sentencing judge, or prosecutor, if a plea bargain deal is made, and approved by the judge. It is impossible to project what the sentence will be, as it would be to project when the end of the world will happen, but rest assured, if the guy is convicted, he will be spending many MANY years of the state's gray-bar hotel.
