How do statute of limitations work? Posted on April 27, 2011

A person commits a crime in 2003 in Missouri. The statute of limitation for that crime is three years. But in 2005 that crime becomes a 10 year statute of limitation. Could that person be prosecuted or would the statute of limitation have run out? Which law would the courts have to abide by, the one before 2005 or the law from 2005 to present?
