How is a divorce affected when one party moves out of state during the divorce? 1 Answers as of July 19, 2011

I live in Wisconsin and was married and living with my husband only in the state of Wisconsin. I have filed for divorce and we have not been assigned a court date yet (thinking should be around Dec/Jan). However, my husband decided to move to Florida and start a new life. How is this going to affect our divorce? Would he still have to come back for the hearing, or can he do it over the phone?

The party who files usually must appear in person (you) and he can request to appear via phone. The bigger question is making sure he turns in required paperwork and works with you to reach an agreement and turn that in the required format.
