Does the statue of limitations on malpractice stop when the minor reaches the age of 18? 3 Answers as of May 23, 2011

The doctors messed up my son’s leg permanently by frying all the nerves in his left leg, giving him what is called Charcot joints. At the time I did not wish to sue the hospital but when he turns 18 in 2 months he wants to sue them. The accident happened about 7 years ago. Can he still sue them?
