Does my daughter have to pay the debt? 4 Answers as of August 30, 2010
I was laid off from my job and had to short sale my home. I filed for bankruptcy earlier this year as a result. I have a joint credit card account for my daughter that we set up before she went to college. I thought that this credit card debt would be included in my case. So why is my daughter receiving calls for payment?Free Case Evaluation by a Local Lawyer!

Because you discharged the debt in bankruptcy the creditor now goes to the co-debtor to collect that debt. Your daughter. If she was only an authorized user they can not collect from her.

If your daughter is liable for the debts on the card, your bankruptcy isn't going to affect her liability at all. If she is merely an authorized user and not a signatore to the cardholder agreement, then she perhaps is not liable for the charges on the card (except, perhaps, for charges made after your bankruptcy case was filed).

Assuming that you filed a chapter 7 bankruptcy, your discharge does not relieve your daughter from having to pay on the credit card which you jointly held with her.
