Do I have to sign a document that will prevent me from getting unemployment benefits? 1 Answers as of June 08, 2011

I was given 30 days to find a new job. My employer wants me to write a letter stating that it was a mutual understanding that I am no longer with the company due to performance, thus preventing me from getting unemployment benefits. How can I word a letter that would not put my eligibility for unemployment benefits in jeopardy?

Why would you want to sign such a letter? No benefit for you. If you do not sign the worst they can do is fire you.
