One of the things you can do is ask the judge to reduce the amount based on the fact that you cant pay or ask for small payments. The has the authority to make you pay. If you do not pay it will go on your credit report and they may put a lien on hour taxes.

When a minor is in juvenile hall the parents are responsible for the cost of keeping there. Most courts have a sliding scale based upon the parents ability to pay. When the minor turns eighteen the parents are no longer responsible for the food and other costs and they then no longer have to pay.
