Do I have to obey an employment non-compete record? Posted on March 08, 2011

I went to work for a company that was not engaged in the business that I was hired to build for them. I signed a non compete for mulch and soil. The company never did any soil but I did build them a mulch operation that grinds timber, puts it into bags and ships it out on trucks. I also brought in the two major customers that they now have, and both will do over one million in business this year alone. I taught them the business, not the other way around. Any trade secrets they have I gave to them. I was terminated and now their attorney has sent me a letter not to compete. The company is in Baton Rouge Louisiana and I have had an offer in Lafayette, Louisiana. Can I accept the position and can the agreement be enforced?
