Do I have to close the felony charge? Posted on August 11, 2011

I was charged back in 2005 in the state of MO (19 years old) for trying to cash a fraudulent check that I was sent, fingerprinting was done and the case never reached court level. When I went to ask the police officer a year later what happened to the case, he told me nothing was filed and they realized I was scammed. Now when I do fingerprint to get Insurance licensing, it shows up on my record and I asked an attorney to help dismiss and expunge the case but he told me we can only "close" it. He said the case is now closed but I'm still worried. I was never convicted and I have a clean record other than this mess. I also want to be a US citizen soon as my permanent resident card is about to expire. I currently live in Texas.
