Do I have a probation officer if I am on an informal probation? 15 Answers as of October 28, 2011

I'm on an informal probation. Do I have a probation officer? I don't have to check in with anyone involving the court. Also since there is no probation officer, are there any random UA's?

No probation officer. Just do what the judge told you to do and break no laws.

On informal probation, I've never seen a client having to report to anyone, that would make it a grant of formal probation. I do not know what UA means so I can't answer that!

You do NOT have a regular probation officer but the office will often do random drug tests on those on non-reporting probation. Stay clean.

You should ask your Attorney or Public Defender what probationary requirements you have to complete. Normally, informal probation status does not require that you have a probation officer, or require that you do any blood or urine testing. However, different Judges may require testing, so check the Court records, or check with your Attorney. If that doesn't get you the answers then get an experienced Attorney to help you. Better to be safe than sorry.

Informal probation means you do not have a probation officer, and almost certainly no random UA's.

If you are placed on "Informal Probation" or "Court Probation" you do not have a probation officer. You must comply with the terms of probation, but there is no review and no supervision of the case. Your probation will expire at the end of its term provided you have not been charged with any additional crime and therefore your name has not come across the Court's desk.

When on informal probation you do not have a probation officer assigned to your case. you do have to tell a police officer that you are on probation if the officer asks. You have to submit to a search of your person, car, or living quarters upon request by an officer. There is no formal or random drug testing. However if you are pulled over for a DUI and they can test you. Just stay out of contact with the police and you will be ok.

If you are on informal probation, you are subject to Court oversight. In the event of a violation in which the police contact you, you will be subject to violation of the terms of your probation if you are found guilty (either by plea or trial) of another offense. No probation officers will come and check you out or require your presence unless you have a Fourth (4th) Amendment waiver as one of your probationary terms. Then you may be searched at any time by an officer of the law.

No, there is no assigned PO. There could be a visit or other search, but very unlikely.

If you are on informal probation, then you are not assigned a probation officer. You can refer to your sentencing memo for the terms of your informal probation.

If you are on informal probation (sometimes called summary probation) to the court, you do not report to a probation officer, but are expected to comply with the terms of probation imposed. The terms of probation are written down on the court minutes from the day you were sentenced. You should have been given a copy after the hearing.
