Do I have a legal recourse when the company I was laid-off from filed for chapter 11? Posted on July 20, 2011
My old job gave me a "60-day notice period". Since I was still technically an "employee" of the company until 4/27, I continued to receive my bi-weekly paychecks and benefits April 1st the company filed for Chapter 11 and sold itself to another company. So far I've heard I will no longer receive my pay through April 27 (even though my paperwork says my termination date is not until 4/27) AND that I will no receive my accumulated earned vacation check (6 weeks)...can the company actually do this and do I have any legal recourse?
