"Joint Physical Custody" is 50/50 and is not preferred by most courts. an order for 51/49 would be a more likely result, if you were looking for joint physical custody. However, "Joint Legal Custody" is ordered most of the time, which gives both parents equal rights to make legal decisions for their child.

Yes. Visitation implies you have less than half the time with the kids. Joint usually means 50/50. Generally you will have joint legal custody with a different breakdown of physical custody.
