Can we hold back rent or break the lease because damage has not been fixed? Posted on March 01, 2011Our kitchen floor has been destroyed for about 30 days now, because of a flood from the snow on the roof. The landlord has been notified twice but has not fixed it yet and never checked for mold. The floor is swollen and there are cracked loose tiles everywhere. I have almost slipped a few times myself. Can we hold back rent or break the lease?
