Can they fire me for taking time off to heal an injury? Posted on October 29, 2010

I just started working for a daycare, and I hurt my knee at work, but I did not say anything about it at that time. However, it has been 2 weeks, and my knee still hurts, and I cannot rest it because I have to take care of the kids. I am going to have to talk to my boss about it, but I worry that because I have only been there about a month, they might fire me if I say I need to take time off to rest it. Since it happened at work, do I have legal protection against getting fired? Even though I did not say anything at the time? Any chance I will get workers comp?
