Can the state drop charges of an assault? Posted on August 03, 2011

I am the victim of a second degree assault charge and so is my friend. My boyfriend is the defendant. The whole situation was a big misunderstanding and became escalated way too quickly. I wish for the state to drop the charges and the whole matter to be put behind us. Will the court take in consideration what I have to say or just use the statement that my friend and I wrote? The police report has some false statements. What will be the overall predicted verdict. This is the defendants first offense and no other previous incidents have thus occurred. Alcohol was a factor as well.
